Where can you find your strength when it seems exhausted?

Every morning, I try to start the day with my best smile. I know I can’t change what’s going on. There are many situations over which we have no control. Or maybe if? I think I put all my energy into drawing strength from nowhere to keep moving forward. But, they always end up exhausting themselves… We all want the happy times to last a lifetime and the sad times to pass as quickly as possible. What we don’t know is that learning takes time.

Being optimistic, laughing at your problems, taking your mistakes as tests to improve yourself can be easy to understand in theory. But, at the moment of truth, the situation changes. It is not easy to be positive and to draw strength when negativity surrounds us, when life keeps sending us miseries from all sides. During these moments, we often feel alone and without energy. Going to seek strength in the depths of oneself then seems impossible.

Drawing strength from the right place

You have made a serious mistake if you have gone through all of the feelings described above. Your liveliness has not been consumed, it is only that you are looking for it in the wrong place. You need to turn your head, to see things from another point of view. Only then will you be able to realize that you have more resistance than you thought.

Perhaps you are surrounded by toxic people who are doing nothing but absorbing your energy and patience. Maybe you wake up in the morning totally frustrated because you have to get back to that job that doesn’t motivate you, but keeps you afloat because it brings you the money you need. In the worst case scenario, you are putting your health at risk and it is this condition that has made your smile disappear.

The strongest people are those who face every difficulty with a big smile of welcome.

What do all of these situations have in common? The problem is in the context and that’s what you think. You focus on things by walking away or avoiding those toxic people, taking on that job that makes you miserable, allowing your illness to be the center of it all.

While living in one life you imagine yourself living another and that causes anger and frustration in you. A frustration that darkens the picture even more of all these aspects that you dislike. Maybe for some you have some leeway and you can take action to change them, while for others you will have to assimilate them in order to place them, eventually, in a place where their gravity gradually loses in intensity.

One way or another, starting from a strategy, remember that the important thing is how you feel and not the external situation. Your ultimate goal is to improve your feelings and not to start a revolution on your objective situation. Think that there may be only one ideal situation, to which we aspire, but that the situations which make us happy are very many.

As we said, we are always going to have more power to change ourselves than to change everything around us. But, what if we continue to do this work because, at least right now, the other alternatives offer us no way out? Of course, all of this can tear you down, but there are some things you can do to make your life less difficult.

  • The negatives of a situation seem immense if we don’t also exploit the positives of that situation: this job isn’t what you want, it frustrates you and doesn’t motivate you, but even so, you keep on devote all your efforts to it, to improve yourself every day. Above all, think about the experience you gain, the active life you lead and all the nice colleagues you have met so far.
  • Check that you are not resigning yourself: sometimes we don’t want to take a step, and we resign ourselves by complaining about what we don’t have. Really can’t or are you afraid to quit your job? Tightening the rope to obtain better working conditions introduces uncertainty that can make us panic, but sometimes there is no other way out.
  • If you do it right, everything will be better. If every day you give a little of yourself, if you focus on the positive things while accepting the bad things, wait … because sooner or later everything you strive for today, even in a situation that does not please you, will bear fruit. When you least expect it, life will offer you better living conditions that will reward you for overcoming these complicated times.

Feeling bad is natural, so is it. To pretend to be well every day is something completely unreal.

Adversities bring negative emotions and feelings that make us focus only on them. The problem is, when we do this, we fail to see that even the worst situations are doing us any good. Thanks to them we allow ourselves to stop and think about what we are doing: is this what we really want or should we try other things?

The positive and the negative complement each other so that we can give the best of ourselves. Otherwise, we could never surpass ourselves, discover ourselves, see our strengths and weaknesses. Don’t be so impatient. Take whatever weight you think of today and use it for strength. When you focus on being the best you can be, miracles do happen.
